2. How to Use Copper Mould Tube Rightly

 

      The Instructions of Assembling Copper Mould Tube:

 

  1. 1Clean water jacket, including the pipe of inlet water and outlet water.

 

  1. 2Put copper mould tube into water jacket, measure water gap by means of feeler gauge (examiner), adjust bolts to make water gap uniformity.

 

  1. 3Pay attention to setting upper and bottom seals, press the cover outside the seals.

 

  1. 4Test water pressure, which usually is between 10 and 14 bar, normally 12 bar. There is an installing platform, on which water jacket and copper mould tube, or whole set of mould are put. The inlet water and outlet water are controlled through the valves, after which there are pressure meters. After degassing the air, increase water pressure to 12 bar and remain 20 ~30 minutes. Look into if no leakage happens from copper mould tube, no fall of pressure showed on pressure meters.

 

  1. 5Put the mould assembly on the rack of oscillator and tighten it using the screws. Assemble the seals for inlet and outlet of water, as well as for foot-roller cooling. There is an orientation hole on the rack of oscillator.

 

  1. 6Align arc and observe the gap of foot-roller. There are foot-rollers on four sides at the bottom of mould. Straight templet is used for straight face, and arc templet is used for curve face. Put templet into copper mould tube, then come out a little. Observe the gap between the outside part of templet and foot-roller. The best gap is 0.3~0.5mm.

 

  1. 7While casting, observe if it is smooth and no off-square happens.

 

  1. 8Record other data for the purpose of analyzing the reason for any problem, including temperature of ladle, steel grade, type of lubrication, type of dummy bar, pressure and flow rate of cooling water for mould and foot-roller.
